Abstract

The cumin (Cuminum cyminum L.) varieties, Gujarat Cumin-2 (GC-2) and Gujarat Cumin-4 (GC-4) were subjected to four
different priming treatments, viz. IAA (100 ppm), GA₃ (200 ppm), cytokinin (100 ppm), and KH₂PO₄ (3%), along with an untreated
control, at B. A. College of Agriculture, AAU, Anand (Gujarat). The field experiment was conducted in a randomized block design
(factorial), while laboratory evaluation was carried out using a completely randomized design (factorial). The results revealed that
the interaction between priming treatments and varieties significantly influenced growth, seed yield, and quality attributes. Variety
GC-4 was significantly superior to GC-2 in terms of field emergence and growth, whereas GC-2 exhibited significantly better seed
quality parameters under laboratory conditions. Among the priming treatments, GA₃ enhanced seed yield and growth performance
under field conditions, while KH₂PO₄ proved most effective in improving seed quality under laboratory evaluation.
