Dr Gautam Kalloo Award for Excellence in Horticultural Research

This award is given annually to the applicant of Indian University/Deemed-to-be University/ICAR Institutes for research work spanning over 25 years in horticultural crops.

Eligibility Criteria
  • 25+ years of research experience
  • Work supported by technologies/patents/publications

Dr Kirti Singh Memorial Award for best Vegetable Scientist

This award is given in recognition of significant contribution of R&D in vegetable science in the country.

Eligibility Criteria
  • 25+ years experience in vegetable/spices
  • Work supported by technologies/patents/publications

Lifetime Achievements Award in R& D in Horticultural Sciences

This Award is given annually for outstanding contributions as a lifetime achievement in the field of horticultural research/development.

Eligibility Criteria
  • 27+ years of research experience
  • Significant impact on quality of life in India

SHRD Best Teacher Award in Horticulture

The SHRD Best Teacher Award in Horticulture has been instituted to recognize and honor outstanding teachers who have made significant contributions in the field of horticultural education, research guidance, and student development.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in horticulture or allied subjects.
  • Should have contributed significantly towards: Innovative teaching methodologies, development of teaching aids/learning materials, mentoring and guiding students for higher studies, research, and career development, contribution towards curriculum development in horticulture.

Leadership Excellence Award in Horticultural Research

The Leadership Excellence Award is given in recognition of leadership qualities/team spirit of the applicant having RMP experience in the development of horticultural science at institute/university level.

Eligibility Criteria
  • 20+ years of research experience
  • Work supported by technologies/patents/publications

Distinguished Horticultural Scientist Award

This award is given to a scientist, who has made significant contributions and displayed leadership in the field of horticultural science evidenced by publications, varieties/technology development, patents, etc.

Eligibility Criteria
  • 20+ years of research experience
  • Work supported by technologies/patents/publications

Outstanding Horticultural Scientist Award

The award is given to a scientist, who has made significant contribution in the field of horticulture evidenced by publications, varieties, technology development, patents, etc.

Eligibility Criteria
  • 15 years of research experience
  • Work supported by technologies/patents/publications

Outstanding Women Horticultural Scientist Award

The award is given to a women scientist, who has made significant contribution in the field of horticulture evidenced by publications, varieties, technology development, patents, etc.

Eligibility Criteria
  • 15 years of research experience
  • Work supported by technologies/patents/publications

Young Horticultural Scientist Award

This award is given annually to a young scientist with significant contribution in any frontier area of horticultural sciences.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Not more than 40 years of age
  • 5+ years of research experience
  • Evidence of publications/technology/patents

Honorary Fellow of SHRD

The SHRD honours various stakeholders or an eminent scientist who have contributed significantly in their respective fields.

Fellow of the Society

The candidates should be in the position of Senior Scientist/Associate Professor or above.

    The SHRD fellowships are given in the field of:
  • Vegetable Science
  • Floriculture
  • Post-harvest Management
Eligibility Criteria
  • Should have minimum of 03 years of life membership of society

SHRD Best Thesis Award (M.Sc. and Ph.D.)

The award is given annually to a student/applicant from the Indian University/ Deemed- to- be university/ICAR Institutes for the research work related to horticultural crops.

Eligibility Criteria
  • The thesis (M.Sc. /Ph.D.) should not be more than 03 years old

Best Research Paper Award (Current Horticulture)

This award is given for the Best Research Paper published in the Current Horticulture every year.

Farmers’ Awards

The SHRD rewards farmers/entrepreneurs who have contributed significantly to production of various horticultural crops and have become source of inspiration to others. The SHRD has two awards.

  • Shri Kamala Rai Memorial Best Innovative Farmer/Entrepreneur Award in Horticulture
  • Choudhary Gangasharan Tyagi Memorial Best Farmer/Entrepreneur Award in Horticulture
  • Smt. Saroj Singh Memorial Innovative Farmer/Entrepreneur Award

General Guidelines for Awards and Fellowships

  • Awards are open to life members of the Society as well as individuals who have made significant contributions towards the objectives and activities of the Society.
  • Application proforma is available on  www.currenthorticulture.com/shrd/ under the Award tab.
  • Applications must be submitted strictly in the prescribed proforma.
  • Incomplete applications or those not conforming to the prescribed format will not be considered.
  • Separate applications are required for each award.
  • Applications must be forwarded through the proper channel (i.e., via the competent authority).
  • A complete application (with supporting documents) should be sent by e-mail to somdutticar@gmail.com .
  • For the Best Thesis Award, applicants must submit: brief biodata, thesis summary, and PDF of the full thesis
  • Nominations for Fellowships will be made by existing Fellows of SHRD. Selected Fellows are required to pay an Induction Fee of ₹3000/-.
  • Awards will be presented in physical form only during the 4th Indian Horticulture-cum-International Conference-2026 at RLBCAU, Jhansi.
