SHRD AWARDS
Recognizing the significant contribution of horticulturists in various branches of horticultural science, the Society instituted different awards. The awards are:

Dr Gautam Kalloo Award for Excellence in Horticultural Research
This award is given annually to the applicant of Indian University/ Deemed- to- be University/ICAR Institutes for his/her research work spanning over 25 years in horticultural crops. The research work should be supported by technologies /patents/ publications in their respective field.Dr Kirti Singh Memorial Award for best Vegetable Scientist
This award is given in the recognition of significant contribution of R&D in vegetable science in the country. The applicant should have at least 25 years of experience in vegetable, spices. The research work should be supported by technologies /patents/ publications in respective field.Life-Time Achievements Award in R&D in Horticultire Sciences
This Award of the SHRD is given annually for outstanding contributions as a lifetime achievement in the field of horticultural research/ development, resulting in a significant impact on the quality of life of people in our country. The award is open to all individuals engaged in research/developmental related activities in the field of horticulture. The candidate must have research experience of over 27 years.Leadership Excellence Award in Horticultural Research
The Leadership Excellence Award is given in recognition of leadership qualities/team spirit of the applicant having RMP experience in the development of horticultural science at institute/university level, with a research experience of more than 20 years.Distinguished Horticultural Scientist Award
This award is given to a scientist, who has made significant contributions and displayed leadership in the field of horticultural science evidenced by publications, varieties/technology development, patents, etc. The applicant should have 20 years of research work experience.Outstanding Horticultural Scientist Award
The award is given to a scientist, who has made significant contribution in the field of horticulture evidenced by publications, varieties, technology development, patents, etc. The applicant should have 15 years of research work experience.Outstanding Women Horticultural Scientist Award
The award is given to a women scientist, who has made significant contribution in the field of horticulture evidenced by publications, varieties, technology development, patents, etc. The applicant should have 15 years of research work experience.Young Horticultural Scientist Award
This award is given annually to a young scientist [not more than 40 years of age at the time of the application. The applicant should have significant contribution in any frontier area of horticultural sciences, evidenced by publications, technology development, patents, etc. The applicant should have 05 years of research work experience.Honorary Fellow of SHRD
The SHRD honours various stakeholders or an eminent scientist who have contributed significantly in their respective fields.Fellow of the Society
The candidates should have minimum of 03 years of life membership of society. The candidates should be in the position of Senior Scientist/Associate Professor or above.

- Post-harvest Management
SHRD Best Thesis Award (M.Sc. and Ph.D.)
The award is given annually to a student/applicant from the Indian University/ Deemed- to- be university/ICAR Institutes for the research work related to horticultural crops. The thesis (M.Sc. /Ph.D.) should not be more than 03 years old.Best Research Paper Award
This award is given for the Best Research Paper published in the Current Horticulture every year.Farmers’ Awards
The SHRD rewards farmers/entrepreneurs who have contributed significantly to production of various horticultural crops and have become source of inspiration to others. The SHRD has two awards.- Shri Kamala Rai Memorial Best Innovative Farmer/Entrepreneur Award in Horticulture
- Choudhary Gangasharan Tyagi Memorial Best Farmer/Entrepreneur Award in Horticulture
General Guidelines for Awards and Fellowships
- The application proforma are available on currenthorticulture.com under award tab.
- The application for the award(s) is required to be submitted in the prescribed proforma (www.currenthorticulture.com). Separate applications are required to be submitted for different awards. The citation in given format (www.currenthorticulture.com) is also required to be submitted along with application.
- One copy of the application should also be sent by e-mail (somdutticar@gmail.com) along with one set of all relevant supporting documents (two documents on single page).
- In the case of Best Thesis Award, a brief biodata, a summary of the thesis, and a PDF of the thesis is required to be submitted by e-mail
- Application for the award (s) should be submitted through the proper channel (i.e. competent authority of the Institute /University or other organizations)
- The nomination of candidates for Fellowships will be done by Fellows of the SHRD.
- On selection of a Fellow, there will be an induction Fee of Rs 3000/- to the
- The awards are normally presented during Indian Horticulture Summit or during any other appropriate function organized by the Society.
- The applications not as per the above guidelines/format or incomplete applications shall not be considered.
- In case of any discrepancy/dispute, the decision of the SHRD will be final.
- The last date for receipt of applications for the awards is 15th January, 2024.
